What is Aadhar Virtual ID?
Virtual ID is an alternative to your Aadhar card. It is also called Virtual ID or VID. This is a 16 digit number which is mapped with the Aadhaar number. It can be used for Aadhaar verification. To complete your e-KYC in both private and government organizations, you can get your work done by giving Virtual ID instead of Aadhar Card. Virtual ID can be created from UIDAI website. Only one virtual ID can be created for one Aadhar card. The user can generate it as many times as he wants. This code is valid for at least one day. But until the user generates another code, the first code remains valid.
Benefits of Virtual ID
To protect the security of Aadhaar and personal information from leaking, UIDAI has given the option of Virtual ID. When users give their Virtual ID to an agency or firm instead of Aadhaar, the agency cannot obtain the Aadhaar number of the applicant and the verification is done as usual. In this way the Aadhaar number and other information is not shared with the agency. In such a situation, Aadhaar number and other information can be protected from hacking.
How to generate
- To generate Aadhaar Virtual ID, you have to first go to the official ID https://www.uidai.gov.in/ .
- Log in to it and go to Aadhar Service and click on Virtual ID.
- Here a page will open, in which you will have to enter the 16 digit Aadhaar number and security code.
- After this, generate OTP by clicking on Send OTP and submit it.
- After submitting OTP, click on Generate VID. After this you will get the message of generation of virtual ID.
- Apart from this, you can also generate this ID through MAadhar app.
