Aadhaar Update: You can change your mobile number linked to Aadhaar while sitting at home

0

In the coming days, you won’t need to visit an Aadhaar center to change your Aadhaar-linked mobile number. The Unique Identification Authority of India is offering the ability to change your mobile number from the comfort of your home using face authentication, which will begin in November or December.

This facility will be provided by UIDAI through an app, in which the person changing the mobile number will have to enter his Aadhaar number and undergo face authentication in front of the mobile camera, which will ensure that the Aadhaar has been issued in the name of the person who is changing the mobile number.

At present, UIDAI is providing many types of facilities to Aadhaar card holders at home, in which they do not need to go to the Aadhaar centre.

Changes can be made on the My Aadhaar portal and the M Aadhaar app.
Through the My Aadhaar portal and the mAadhaar app, people can change their address and update Aadhaar-related documents from the comfort of their homes. The document update process is free, while a fixed fee is required to be paid online for an address change.

Apart from this, Aadhaar plastic card can also be ordered online by paying a fee of Rs 50, but now UIDAI is working towards providing the facility of mobile number update at home.

The availability of the facility opened the way for the people

UIDAI has introduced face authentication for many services. This will pave the way for changing your mobile number from home, even after online face authentication.

It is being reported that this facility will be available through an app at the UIDAI level, and work on this is underway. This feature will benefit millions of people, as currently, many cases of changing mobile numbers require people to visit Aadhaar centers.

Till now it is necessary to go to the center to change the mobile number
Currently, to change the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar number, it is necessary to visit an Aadhaar center. Before changing the mobile number, the individual’s biometric data, i.e., fingerprints, are collected to verify and ensure that the person changing the mobile number is the same person in whose name the Aadhaar number was issued.

After this is confirmed, permission is granted to change the mobile number. In fact, if the wrong person changes the mobile number, all control related to Aadhaar will be transferred to the wrong person, which could lead to fraud, including banking and other types of fraud. Therefore, to verify the identity of the person, it is necessary to visit the Aadhaar center and provide biometric data.
