All Aadhar card holders got great news on Tuesday. The Unique Identification Authority has once again extended the deadline for updating Aadhaar for free. The deadline to update Aadhaar for free was ending on 14 December.
Deadline extended till this date
Aadhaar authority UIDAI informed about extension of the deadline in an official update. The authority said that in view of the positive responses received from the citizens, it has been decided to extend the deadline for Aadhaar updation. Now Aadhaar can be updated through My Aadhaar portal without paying any fee till 14 March 2024. The authority said that it has been decided to extend the deadline from 15 December 2023 for the next 3 months i.e. till 14 March 2024.
This much charge is being charged offline
Free facility to update Aadhaar details was available on My Aadhaar portal. If a user updates Aadhaar offline by going to Aadhaar center instead of online, then he has to pay a fee of Rs 25. Now even after the extension of the deadline, the same system will remain intact. That means, the facility of free Aadhaar updation will be available only in case of online.
Update of Aadhaar is necessary in these cases
For this the user will have to visit myAadhaar portal i.e. https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ . It becomes necessary to update Aadhaar details in many cases. For example, if your address has changed then it should be updated. The Aadhaar authority is also asking those users to update their Aadhaar, for whom it has been more than 10 years since the unique identity was created.
Process to update Aadhaar online:
- Visit the Aadhaar portal.
- After logging in, click on Name/Gender/Date of Birth & Address Update.
- Click on Update Aadhaar Online.
- Whatever address/name/gender needs to be updated, select it and proceed.
- Upload a copy of the updated proof.
- No payment has to be made yet. After March 14, Rs 25 will have to be paid.
- As soon as the payment option is completed, a new page will open, where you will get the reference number.
