It is not mandatory to update Aadhaar

In this whole matter, the Ministry of Electronics and IT as well as UIDAI has issued information for all the citizens of the country saying that it is not mandatory to update the Aadhaar card.

The Unique Identification Authority of India i.e. UIDAI had earlier issued a press release saying that it is urging the citizens of the country to update their documents and is also encouraging them to do so. In the recently issued gazette notification, it has also been clearly stated that the citizens of the country can ‘do so’ i.e. update their Aadhaar card on completion of every 10 years.

These are the benefits of uploading documents

By keeping the ‘Aadhaar’ related documents updated, people get convenience in many important tasks. Keeping the documents up to date makes it possible to provide better services as well as enable accurate authentication. UIDAI has always encouraged the citizens of the country to update their respective documents and this gazette notification is another step in that direction.
