From time to time, some news keeps circulating on social media regarding updating Aadhaar. Many of these news have no basis and are fake. Even now some people are spreading such rumors that it has become mandatory to update Aadhaar cards older than ten years. Failure to do so will result in Aadhaar closure after some time. However, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has made it clear many times that updating Aadhaar is not mandatory. Yes, if the Aadhaar card is old and it is updated then only the users benefit from it.

UIDAI says that Aadhar card holders should update the documents related to their identity proof and address proof. The address or your photograph in the Aadhaar card which is many years old may be old, in such a situation, it is better for you if you get it updated. Yes, if you do not update your 10 year old Aadhaar, then Aadhaar will continue to work as it was earlier. It will not be blocked or suspended at all.

Updating Aadhaar is very easy.

If your Aadhaar is 10 years old and you have changed the city or your address during this period, then you may face problems in some things. That is why you should update your Aadhaar immediately. You can update Aadhaar both online and offline.

To update Aadhaar online, you will first have to go to myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in. After this, you will see the option to update your information. After following the complete process, some documents will also have to be uploaded, after which your Aadhaar will be updated. If you do not want to update online, you can also do it by going to the Aadhaar center. However, you will have to pay a fee of Rs 50 for this.
