8th Pay Commission: Central employees salary will increase by 186%? know what could be the fitment factor?

8th Pay Commission: After the approval of the 8th Pay Commission, lakhs of central employees and pensioners of the country are waiting for the formation of its commission.

The central government has approved the much-awaited Eighth Pay Commission with the beginning of the new year. At the same time, last month Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said that the 8th Pay Commission would be constituted soon. But the members and chairman have not been appointed yet. In such a situation, lakhs of central employees and salary earners of the country are waiting for how long the government will constitute the Eighth Pay Commission. However, it is expected that the new pay commission will be constituted this month i.e. in May.

How much can be the fitment factor

Actually, the 7th Pay Commission is ending on 1 January 2026. In such a situation, the government will consider implementing it as soon as possible. At the same time, some experts believe that after the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission, the monthly salary of central employees and pensioners can increase by 40 to 50 percent. For this, the new pay commission can keep the fitment factor between 2.28 to 2.86. If this happens, then the employees whose basic salary is Rs 20000, their salary will increase from Rs 46,600 to Rs 57,200.

Salary increased by 554% between 5th and 7th pay commission

If we look at the increase in the previous pay commissions, then from the 5th to the 7th pay commission, there has been a tremendous jump in the basic salary of central employees. At the time of the 5th Pay Commission, the basic salary was Rs 2750, which was increased to Rs 7000 in the 6th Pay Commission. At the same time, in the 7th Pay Commission it was increased to Rs 18000. Thus there was a total jump of 554 percent.

Defense employees will also get benefits

In such a situation, it will have to be seen how much relief the central employees and pensioners get from the government. Let us tell you that about 36 lakh employees and pensioners are eagerly waiting for this decision of the government. Apart from this, employees and pensioners of the Defense Department will also get the benefit of the eighth pay.

Will there be an increase of 186% in the basic salary?

It is known that the new pay commission recommends an increase in the salary of employees and pensioners on the basis of fitment factor. This is an important basis. The new basic salary is determined by multiplying the old basic salary with the fitment factor i.e. (new basic salary = old basic salary × fitment factor). During the 7th Pay Commission, it was 2.57, so there was a huge jump in the monthly salary of the employees. If the panel in the 8th Pay Commission takes it to 2.86, then the salary of the employees will increase by 186 percent. However, there has been no official statement from the government regarding this.
