7th Pay Commission Update: Regarding the 18 months DA arrears of central employees, it is being claimed in many media reports that the government is considering giving it. Let me tell you this news is completely misleading. Read the facts related to this further.

7th Pay Commission Update: After the increase in the AICPI index in March, there are many reports about the 18-month DA arrears of central employees. It is being claimed in many media reports that the government can soon take a decision regarding the DA arrears (DA) stopped for the central employees from the year 2020.

Misinformation spreading on social media

But let us tell you that in many cases, misleading news is being spread on social media. Let us tell you that the Dearness Allowance (DA) frozen in the year 2020 of the central employees has already been paid. Since then there has been a constant demand for the DA Arrear during that period. The dearness allowance money stopped during the Covid-19 transition was given in installment.

No idea to pay arrears

Now again the news being spread on 18 months DA arrears is misleading. This arrear will not be given to the central employees. The central government has also made it clear that there is no thought on giving arrears. The Finance Ministry has turned down the request of pensioners to release 3 installments of Dearness Relief Arrear withheld during the Covid-19 pandemic for immediate relief work.

DA arrears installment will not be available

According to an estimate, the total amount of arrears of DR (for pensioners) and DA (for employees) for central employees is about 34,000 crores. In the meeting of the Standing Committee of Voluntary Agencies to review the pension rules, the Department of Expenditure (DOI) made it clear that the arrears amount of DA and DR will not be given.

DA and DR have been increased 3 times

Since July 1, 2021, since the ban on DA has been lifted, dearness allowance and dearness relief have been increased thrice by the government. Let us tell you, dearness allowance of central employees has been increased to 28 percent from July 1, 2021. Earlier, they were getting paid at the rate of 17 per cent. In October 2021, 3 percent was increased to 31 percent. In March 2022, the dearness allowance was again increased by 3 percent.
