new Delhi. The Central Government gives many types of allowances to its employees. One of these is the Children Education Allowance (CEA). The employees who could not claim the Children Education Allowance in 2020 due to the pandemic have the last chance to get it. Government employees can claim the amount of Children Education Allowance till 31 March 2022 without any documents.

According to the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, central employees can get Rs 4500 as children allowance for two children every month. But this claim could not be made due to the closure of the school due to Corona epidemic. Now the government is giving its employees the last chance for this.

Big relief was given last year

Last year, due to the pandemic, the Central Government had self-certified the Children’s Education Allowance (CEA) claim. This decision of the government had given relief to 50 lakh central employees. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) had also issued an office memorandum in this regard.

Know what were the rules before

Earlier, employees had to submit school certificates and supporting documents to claim children’s education allowance. Apart from this, many other documents like child’s report card, self-attested copy and fee receipt had to be submitted. These documents were required to claim the Children Education Allowance. Now self-certification from the concerned employees and in addition to the prescribed methods, the result/report card/fee payment can be claimed through printout of e-mail/SMS.

Rs 2,250 per child allowance

Central government employees get allowance on education of two children, which is Rs 2250 per child. On two children, the employees get 4500 rupees every month by adding to the salary. If the employees have not yet claimed the academic session from March 2020 to March 2021, then they can now do so.
