New Delhi. 7th Pay Commission update: The 18-month DA arrears of central employees that are stuck, can now be decided soon. It is believed that the government can take a decision on this issue after January 26. The employees’ unions are demanding a lump sum and early payment of the arrears of DA arrears of 18 months.


According to Shiv Gopal Mishra, Secretary (Staff Side) of the National Council of Joint Consultative Machinery (JCM), the council has put forth a demand in front of the government that while restoring the DA, one time settlement of DA arrears pending for 18 months should also be done.

Pensioners wrote a letter to PM Modi

The Indian Pensioners’ Forum (BMS) has appealed to PM Modi to pay the arrears of Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) of central employees and pensioners. The Manch has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding early disposal of this matter. The Finance Ministry had stopped the DA hike in May 2020 till 30 June 2021 due to the Covid-19 epidemic. It has been asked to restore it again from 1 July 2021.

Waiting for arrears since one and a half year

The Department of Expenditure under the Ministry of Finance said that the DA to the Central Government employees will be increased from the existing 17 percent to 28 percent of the basic salary. In April last year, the Finance Ministry had put on hold the increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) till 30 June 2021 due to COVID-19. From 1 January 2020 to 30 June 2021, the DA rate was 17 percent.

Will get more than 2 lakh arrears

According to Shiv Gopal Mishra of the National Council of JCM, the DA arrears of Level-1 employees range from Rs 11,880 to Rs 37,554. Whereas, for Level-13 (7th CPC basic pay scale Rs 1,23,100 to Rs 2,15,900) or Level-14 (pay scale), the DA arrears in the hands of an employee will be Rs 1,44,200. 2,18,200 will come to Rs.
