Indian Railways employees are paid Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) every year around Diwali. In this, you get a bonus equal to 78 days’ salary. In this, it is paid to the employees of the lowest grade (Group C and Group D). The bonus amount is transferred to the employees’ account on the basis of minimum salary. However, this time the Railway Federation has demanded an increase in it. But, the final decision on this has to be taken by the Central Government.

What is the federation’s demand regarding bonus?

Indian Railway Employees Federation (IREF) has written a letter to Railways demanding revised bonus on the basis of 7th Pay Commission. IREF has demanded that the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission (7th CPC) were implemented in the Railways on January 1, 2016, but the employees’ bonus (PLB) is still being paid on the basis of calculation of minimum wages prescribed in the 6th Pay Commission. Used to be. In such a situation, it should be modified and given under the 7th Pay Commission.

Which employees are to get bonus?

Let us tell you, every year this bonus is given to the employees by the Central Government during the festive season. Ministry of Railways pays PLB to all non-gazetted employees (Group C and Group D) as an incentive to increase productivity and ensure safety. In this, a bonus amount equal to 78 days’ salary of the employee is given. Bonus is calculated on the basis of minimum wage of the lowest grade (Group D) employees.

How much bonus do you get in rupees?

In the Sixth Pay Commission, the minimum salary for Group D employees was only Rs 7000. At the same time, after the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission, it was increased to Rs 18,000. According to the Railway Employees Federation, all Group C and Group D employees get only Rs 17,951 as bonus. Its calculation is also based on the minimum salary of Rs 7000 of the Sixth Pay Commission. Railway Employees Federation demands that as per the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, the amount of bonus should be increased to Rs 46,159, considering the minimum wage as the basis. A request has been made to the Railway Ministry for this.

How much burden will there be on the government exchequer in the current situation?
Paying an amount equal to 78 days’ work as bonus to railway employees is estimated to put a burden of more than Rs 1832 crore on the government exchequer. This financial burden is when PLB is calculated on the minimum wage of Rs 7,000 prescribed by the Sixth Pay Commission.
