According to the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, the central employees have to increase the dearness allowance or relief on a half-yearly basis. This is the reason why the government increases dearness allowance or relief twice a year.

If everything goes well, then the central employees will get 18 months’ arrears of Dearness Allowance (DA) in one stroke. Similarly, the pensioners are also waiting for the arrears of dearness relief i.e. DR amount. According to the media reports, the government is brainstorming on this and a decision is possible soon.

According to media reports, apart from the Ministry of Finance and the National Council of Joint Consultative Machinery, several rounds of talks have been held on this between the Department of Personnel and Training. However, let’s know how long this arrear is due.

What is the matter:
During the Corona period, dearness allowance to central employees on half-yearly basis and dearness relief to pensioners was banned. The government has not paid DA to the employees for 18 months i.e. between January 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021.

What is the rule:
Let us tell you that according to the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, the central employees have to increase the dearness allowance or relief on a half-yearly basis. This is the reason why the government increases dearness allowance or relief twice a year. However, dearness allowance or relief remained the same for three and a half years during the Corona period. Demand is being made for the dues of the same three half years.
