7th Pay Commission: After this announcement by the Railway Board, dearness allowance (railway employees DA hike) has been increased from 42 percent to 46 percent of the basic salary.

7th Pay Commission: Good news has come for the employees of Indian Railways before Diwali. Railway Board has announced to increase the dearness allowance of railway employees by 4 percent. This dearness allowance will be applicable from July 1, 2023. Overall, the employees are going to get a good amount of money as arrears. After this announcement by the Railway Board, dearness allowance (railway employees DA hike) has been increased from 42 percent to 46 percent of the basic salary. According to Live Mint news, a circular in this regard has been issued by the Board to the General Managers and Chief Administrative Officers of All India Railways and production units on October 23, 2023.

Will be given in next salary from July along with DA arrears

According to the news, the basic salary has been defined as the salary received as per the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission accepted by the government, but no special payment is included in it. Employees will get increased DA along with arrears in their next salary from July. Welcoming the decision of the railway board, All India Railwaymen’s Federation General Secretary Shiv Gopal Mishra said that the employees were to get DA (railway employees DA hike) from July, hence it was the right of the employees to get it. However, I welcome the decision to announce its payment.

DA payment based on Consumer Price Index

Similarly, according to Livemint news, National Federation of Indian Railwaymen general secretary M Raghavaiah said that DA is paid on the basis of Consumer Price Index and its purpose is to neutralize inflation. Quoting the agency, he said that it is right that the Railway Board has announced it on time, however, we are insisting on our demand for payment of DA from January 2020 to June 2021, which has been postponed by the government due to Covid. Was stopped due to -19. ,

The Railway Board’s announcement came just five days after the Union Cabinet approved a bonus worth about Rs 15,000 crore. This included a 4 percent increase in DA for government employees, as per the accepted formula. Lakhs of Railway employees and pensioners will benefit from this announcement.
