Now after the increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) of central employees, there may be an increase in one more allowance i.e. House Rent Allowance (HRA). If media reports are to be believed, then the employees can get the increased HRA in January. According to the report, more than 30 lakh employees will benefit from this.

Finance Ministry The Finance Ministry has started considering the demand for implementation of House Rent Allowance (HRA) of more than 11.56 lakh employees in this regard. This proposal has been sent to the Railway Board for approval. After the proposal is approved, the employees will get HRA from January 2021. There will be a tremendous increase in the salary of these employees as soon as they get HRA. Indian Railway Technical Supervisors Association (IRTSA) and National Federation of Railwaymen (NFIR) have demanded implementation of HRA from January 1, 2021. After this it can be applied to the salary of all central employees.

City wise HRA is available

The category of House Rent Allowance (HRA) is according to X, Y and Z class cities. That is, the employees who fall in the X category will now get more HRA than Rs 5400 per month. After this, the person of Y class will get Rs 3600 per month and then the person of Z class will get HRA of Rs 1800 per month. Cities with a population of more than 50 lakhs come in the X category. Central employees in these cities will get 27% HRA. It will be 18% in Y category cities and 9% in Z category.
