7th Pay Commission: Big update on DA arrears, salary of central employees will be increased again. DA is given to government employees, public sector employees and pensioners. It is given to the employees to help them with their living expenses.


7th Pay Commission: A good news is coming for the central government employees. Employees who are waiting for their DA dues are likely to get good news before Holi on March 18, 2022. There is a possibility of increasing the dearness allowance by 3 percent, to be considered by the central government with effect from January 1, 2022.

According to a report, all the employees will get full salary in March, including the arrears of DA which will be for January and February. A media report further clarified that Shiv Gopal Mishra of the National Council of JCM has said that the DA arrears of Level-1 employees range from Rs 11,880 to Rs 37,554. DA arrears of employees at Level-13 (7th CPC Basic Pay Scale of Rs 1,23,100 to Rs 2,15,900) or Level-14 (Pay Scale) will be Rs 1,44,200 and Rs 2,18,200 respectively.

Notably, at present the total Dearness Allowance (DA) is 31%, which can be increased to 34%. This increase will happen after the central government takes the DA to 3% – 34%.

Know- How is DA calculated?

  • Dearness Allowance Percentage = ((Average of AICPI for the last 12 months (Base Year 2001=100)-115.76)/115.76) x 100.
  • Dearness Allowance (DA) of central government employees is updated twice a year between January and July. DA is calculated by multiplying the current rate of dearness allowance by the basic pay.
  • DA is given to government employees, public sector employees and pensioners. It is given to the employees to help them with their living expenses.
