7th Pay Commission: A big update has come from the government regarding the arrears of dearness allowance. After the increase in the AICPI index in March and April, all the news is going on on the 18-month DA arrears of central employees. It is being claimed in some media reports that the government can soon take a decision regarding the DA arrears (DA) stopped for the central employees from the year 2020.

Still confused by many news

Actually, in 2020, the DA of central employees was stopped at the time of Kovid-19 transition. Three installments of Dearness Allowance (DA) have been paid. But, the idea of giving arrears during the withheld period is not being considered. The employees waiting for DA arrears have already been informed about this. But, there is still confusion due to many news.

Misinformation being spread on social media

In many cases, misinformation is being spread on social media. Freeze Dearness Allowance (DA) has already been paid to central employees in the year 2020. Since then there has been a constant demand for the DA Arrear during that period. The dearness allowance money stopped during the Kovid-19 transition was given in installment. The government is not considering giving the withheld DA arrears from January 2020 to June 2021.

Rejected request for release in 3 installments

It has been made clear from the central government that there is no thought on giving arrears. The Finance Ministry has turned down the request of pensioners to release 3 installments of Dearness Relief Arrear withheld during the Kovid-19 pandemic for immediate relief work.

DA arrears installment will not be available

According to an estimate, the total amount of arrears of DR (for pensioners) and DA (for employees) for central employees is about 34,000 crores. In the meeting of the Standing Committee of Voluntary Agencies to review the pension rules, the Department of Expenditure (DOI) made it clear that the arrears amount of DA and DR will not be given.

Currently get 34% DA

Since July 2021, since the ban on DA has been lifted, dearness allowance and dearness relief have been increased thrice by the government. Let us tell you, dearness allowance of central employees has been increased to 28 percent from July 1, 2021. Earlier, they were getting paid at the rate of 17 per cent. In October 2021, 3 percent was increased to 31 percent. In March 2022, the dearness allowance was again increased by 3 percent and at present it is 34 percent.
