DA Hike Update: Dearness allowance of central employees is expected to increase soon. The government can it anytime.

Central employees and pensioners are waiting for the increase in dearness allowance from the government, but the increase in dearness allowance has not been announced yet. Some media claim that dearness allowance of central employees and dearness relief for pensioners can be increased during the month of September. However, officially nothing has been decided yet.

According to a PTI report, on July 31, the AICPI index figures for June were released, according to which, if calculated, there would be an increase in dearness allowance and dearness relief by three per cent. If this increase happens, then the DA of the employees will increase from 42 percent to 45 percent.

How is dearness allowance decided?

The dearness allowance is decided on the basis of the monthly numbers of the All India Consumer Price Index. The number of dearness allowance applicable in July 2023 is decided on the basis of AICPI index from January to June. On the other hand, if the trend of six months’ numbers is seen, then it is certain that there will be an increase of 4 percent in the dearness allowance. However, the final decision will be decided by the government.

How much will be the increase in salary

If the DA increases by four percent, then the monthly dearness allowance will be Rs. 8280 on the basic salary of Rs. 18,000 for the government employees, which means that the monthly will increase by Rs. 720. There will be an increase of Rs 8640 annually. Wherein the maximum basic salary is Rs 56,900, then there will be an increase in the monthly salary of Rs 2276 on dearness allowance of 46 percent. This means that annually Rs 27312 will increase.
