Central employees are also demanding to increase the fitment factor from 2.57 percent to 3.68 percent. In January, the government had increased the dearness allowance by 3 percent. Now news is coming that the government may soon increase the fitment factor.

New Delhi. Central government employees have been demanding an increase in the fitment factor for a long time. The employees are demanding that the minimum wage should be increased by Rs 18 thousand to Rs 26 thousand per month and the fitment factor should also be increased from 2.57 times to 3.68 times. According to the news that is coming out now, the central government is seriously considering these demands of the employees. The government may soon announce an increase in the fitment factor.

In January, the Central Government had increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) by three percent. Dearness Allowance was increased from 31 per cent to 34 per cent. Dearness allowance is increased twice a year. In July, the government can increase the dearness allowance again. If the central government increases the fitment factor, then the salary of the employees will increase.

This is the math of salary

According to the report of Moneycontrol.com, currently the employees are getting salary under the fitment factor on the basis of 2.57 percent, which is increased to 3.68 percent, then the minimum wage of the employees will increase by Rs 8,000. This means that the minimum salary of central government employees will be from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000. If the fitment factor is increased to 3.68 per cent, the basic pay of the employees will be Rs 26,000. At present, if an employee is getting a minimum salary of Rs 18,000, then excluding allowances, he will get Rs 46,260 (18,000 X 2.57 = 46,260) as per the 2.57 fitment factor. Now if the fitment factor becomes 3.68, then the salary of the employee will be Rs 95,680 (26000X3.68 = 95,680).

Minimum salary was increased in 2017

The Central Government had approved the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission in June 2017 with 34 amendments. Then the entry level minimum salary was increased from Rs 7,000 per month to Rs 18,000. At the same time, the salary for the highest level i.e. Secretary was increased from Rs 90,000 to Rs 2.5 lakh.
