7th Pay Commission: The coming festive season is going to bring double bonanza for the central employees. Now the house rent allowance (HRA) of the employees is going to increase by 3 percent. In the long wait for Kovid, the government did not pay dearness allowance (DA) for one and a half years, but on July 1, the DA was increased from 17 per cent to 28 per cent. All these allowances will be available in the October salary of the employees.

According to media reports, the government has increased the HRA by 3 percent to 25 percent of the basic salary. While issuing the order, the central government said that the house rent allowance and DA should be increased on the basis of basic salary of government employees. It is to be known that according to the rules, HRA has been increased because DA has exceeded 25%. For this reason, the central government has also decided to increase the HRA to 27%.

On 7 July 2017, the Expenditure Department had issued an order stating that when the DA exceeds 25%, the HRA will also be revised. Since July 1, the dearness allowance has increased to 28%, so now it is necessary to revise the HRA as well.

Explain that according to the category of the city, 27 percent, 18 percent and 9 percent HRA is being given. This hike has also come into effect from 1 July 2021 along with DA. The category of House Rent Allowance (HRA) is according to X, Y and Z class cities. This means to say that the central employees who fall in the X category will now get HRA more than Rs 5400 per month. After this, the employees of Y class will get Rs 3600 per month and then the employees of Z class will get Rs 1800 per month.

According to the 7th Pay Commission, the minimum basic pay of central government employees is Rs 18,000. At present, the basic salary of private sector employees starts from Rs 15000. On this basic salary of Rs 18,000, central government employees were getting DA of Rs 3060 at the rate of 17% till June 2021. From July 2021, central government employees will get Rs 5040 per month at the rate of 28 per cent DA. Now the monthly salary of the employees increased by Rs 1980.
