Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced a 3% hike in dearness allowance for state employees and pensioners. According to the information given by the Chief Minister’s Office, this decision will benefit about 7.5 lakh employees and pensioners of the state.
Seal on 30 percent
Significantly, the state government has also decided to give 30 percent arrears to the employees under the 7th Pay Commission. The employees will get arrears of 50 percent of the increased wages between January 2016 and August 2017. Six lakh employees of the state will benefit from this decision. That is, from the beginning of the new year, the employees have become bat-bat.
After the increase made by the state government, now the dearness allowance of the employees has become 31% of the basic salary. Let us tell you that this increase will be applicable from July 1, 2021.
Central government can also increase
It is worth noting that the central government can once again increase the DA of central employees. If we look at the data of AICPI index, till September 2021, the dearness allowance has gone up to 33 percent. That is, according to this, there has been an increase of 2 percent in it.
However, the figures for October, November and December are not yet available. It is expected that it may increase further by 1 percent. If the CPI (IW) figure remains up to 125 by December 2021, then 3 percent increase in dearness allowance is certain. That is, the total DA will increase by 3% to 34 percent. It will be paid from January 2022 and the salary of central employees will increase.
