7th pay commission

For central employees, only the AICPI index is used to determine their daily stipend. The country as a whole and 88 centers were included in the index. AICPI is released on the last working day of every month.

In December 2022, the AICPI figures were 132.3. According to media reports, dearness allowance will increase by 3 percent if the future index (for January 2022) increases. As a result, DA will increase to 41 per cent from its present 38 per cent.

If the government announces a 3% hike in DA and makes it 41%, how much will the salary increase? Let’s know…

If the minimum basic salary is Rs 18,000, then…

If DA is increased to 41% = Rs 7,380/month
Existing 38% DA = Rs 6,840/month
Increase in salary by Rs 900 per month (Rs 7,380 minus Rs 6,840)
Annual increment 900 X 12 = Rs 10,800

If you take minimum basic salary of Rs 56,900 then…

If DA is increased to 41% = Rs 23,329/month
Existing 38% DA = Rs 21,622/month
Increase in salary by Rs 1,707 per month (Rs 23,329 minus Rs 21,622)
Annual increment 1,707 X 12 = Rs 20,484
