7th pay commission: Let us tell you that about 49.18 lakh central government employees and 67.95 lakh pensioners will benefit from the increase in dearness allowance and dearness relief.

7th pay commission: Before Holi, Modi government has made a big increase of 4 percent in Dearness Allowance (DA) of central employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners. After this decision, the allowance of employees has now increased to 50 percent. With this increase, the benefits of different categories of central government employees have also increased. In such a situation, there will be a big increase in the salary of central employees for the month of March. Let us understand how much the salary of central employees is going to increase.

On basic salary of Rs 25,600

If the basic salary of a central employee is Rs 25,600 per month, then earlier the dearness allowance at the rate of 46 percent was Rs 11,776. However, now with the dearness allowance being 50 percent, the dearness allowance will increase to Rs 12,800. In such a situation, the dearness allowance of the central employee will increase by Rs 1,024 (Rs 12,800 – Rs 11,776). This increase in dearness allowance is decided according to the basic salary. The higher the basic salary, the higher the increase in allowance. In such a situation, it is advisable that you calculate the increase in allowance through this calculation according to your basic salary.

HRA also increased

According to the recommendations of the Pay Commission, if the allowance of central government employees reaches 50%, the House Rent Allowance i.e. HRA will also increase. If central employees live in X, Y & Z category cities/towns, then HRA has been reduced to 30, 20 and 10 percent respectively. Till now, employees living in cities/towns of X, Y & Z used to get 27, 18 and 9 percent HRA respectively. This means that the HRA of employees living in X, Y & Z category cities has increased by 3, 2 and 1 percent respectively.

Big increase in March salary

Since the new decision of the government will be implemented from January 2024, the central employees will also get DA arrears for the months of January and February in the salary of March. Apart from this, increase in HRA or other allowances will also be added to the salary for March.

Which allowances will increase

  • House Rent Allowance i.e. HRA
  • Child Education Allowance
  • Special allowance for childcare
  • Hostel subsidy
  • Travel Allowance on Transfer
  • Dress allowance
  • Gratuity ceiling
  • Mileage allowance
