The Reserve Bank continues to warn users about fake notes. Despite this, counterfeiters keep finding new methods. Many times similar claims are made on social media also. Once again a special type of Rs 500 note is being called fake. Many users have claimed that banks have also refused to accept such notes. After this, there was an earthquake on social media and every user started narrating his or her story.

Actually, in the year 2016, the Reserve Bank had discontinued the old Rs 500 notes and issued new notes. Then RBI claimed that this note has been made stronger in terms of security, so that its fake version cannot be introduced. Despite all these preparations, people claim that banks are returning their particular Rs 500 note as fake.

What is the secret of this special note

Many users on social media have claimed that the Rs 500 note with star (*) symbol is fake and shopkeepers and customers are refusing to accept it. Not only this, a user even said that IndusInd Bank has also refused to accept this note. As soon as such a post went viral on social media, there was an uproar and some people called it wrong while others considered it to be true and started narrating their stories.

Then RBI had to intervene

When the uproar on social media increased, the Reserve Bank itself intervened. RBI said that the note with star symbol was issued after the old notes were discontinued. This is a special symbol to identify the note and any note with this symbol is not fake. RBI said that the letters of the new notes of Mahatma Gandhi series start with ‘E’, in which the special character star ‘*’ has also been added in some notes. Earlier this type of star special character was included in the notes of Rs 10, 20, 50 and 100.
