In August 2022, we will witness some really big car launches of this year. While Hyundai has confirmed that it will introduce the new-generation Tucson on 4th August, the third-generation Maruti Alto and all-new Grand Vitara are reported to hit showrooms next month. Toyota’s new Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV and new Land Cruiser LC300 are also in the pipeline. Here’s a brief on the aforementioned upcoming models.

NEW-GEN HYUNDAI TUCSON
Official bookings for the all-new Tucson have been commenced ahead of its market arrival. One of the major feature upgrades comes in the form of the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system), which is also first for Hyundai India. The SUV has a dual-tone Black and Grey interior with the Alcazar-like steering, a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display with turn-by-turn navigation, an 8-speaker Bose audio system and many more goodies. The automaker will bring in the long-wheelbase version of the Tucson. Compared to the outgoing model, the new one will have 85mm longer wheelbase and it measure 150mm longer. Engine setup of the new 2022 Hyundai Tucson includes a 156bhp, 2.0L petrol and a 186bhp, 2.0L diesel motor. More details here…

NEW-GEN MARUTI ALTO
Maruti Suzuki is reported to launch the third-generation Alto in late August 2022. The hatchback will grow in size and witness significant changes inside and out. It’s likely to come with a touchscreen infotainment system, a semi-digital instrument console, engine start/stop button and keyless entry. Besides, the new 2022 Maruti Alto will be designed on the Heartect platform and come with the new 1.0L K10C Dualjet petrol engine. The motor makes power worth 6bhp and 89Nm of torque. The existing 796cc engine is likely to be available only on the lower variants. With the generation change, the Alto might get the factory-fitted CNG kit.

MARUTI GRAND VITARA
The upcoming Maruti Grand Vitara will be the most expensive and advanced SUV from the Indo-Japanese automaker in the country. It will come as a replacement to the S-Cross. The latest teasers confirm that the new Maruti SUV will have a digital instrument console with coloured display and the biggest panoramic sunroof in its segment. It will also be the first model in its category to offer AllGrip AWD system with the hybrid powertrain and drive modes. The new Grand Vitara will be made available with Toyota’s 1.5L petrol engine with strong hybrid tech and Suzuki’s 1.5L petrol unit with mild hybrid system. While the former will come with an eCVT gearbox, the latter can be had with a 6-speed torque convertor automatic transmission.

TOYOTA URBAN CRUISER HYRYDER
Toyota Kirloskar Motor is all set to enter into the mid-size SUV space with the all-new Urban Cruiser Hyryder. While its official launch date is yet to be announced, the model is likely to come in August 2022. It will come in four trims – E, S, G and V – and two hybrid powertrain options – 1.5L petrol with Suzuki’s mild hybrid and Toyota’s strong hybrid tech. On the feature front, the new Toyota SUV will offer a 360 degree camera, a fully digital instrument cluster, Heads-Up Display (HUD), voice assistance with Google and Siri compatibility, connected car tech, cooled seats and more. Its design will be slightly different from the Maruti Grand Vitara.

NEW TOYOTA LAND CRUISER LC300
Deliveries of the new Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 SUV are likely to begin next month. The Japanese automaker had quietly commenced its pre-bookings earlier this year and stopped temporarily due to semiconductor shortage. Under the hood, the SUV features a 3.3L twin-turbo diesel motor that’s good for 305bhp and 700Nm. Transmission duties are done by a 10-speed automatic gearbox. It gets a 4X4 system as standard along with multi-terrain monitor, and select with Auto & Deep Snow mode, and variable suspension with an electronically controlled Kinetic Dynamic Suspension Stabilisation System. The SUV can do 0 to 100kmph in 6.7 seconds. The new model will underpin the new GA-G platform that’s derived from TNGA architecture. Compared to the outgoing unit, the new one is 200kg lighter.
