2024 Henley Passport Index: Passport of these 6 countries is the most powerful, check India ranking in list

A total of 6 countries around the world have claimed to be on top in the 2024 Henley Passport Index. These countries claim to provide their citizens with the most powerful passports, allowing visa-free access to 194 out of 227 countries. France, Germany, Italy and Spain, along with Japan and Singapore, are among the countries with the most powerful passports in the world.

Four member countries of the European Union, France, Germany, Italy and Spain, occupy a special place among the countries with the most powerful passports in the world. These countries top the list along with Asian countries like Japan and Singapore.

2024 Henley Passport Index retains first position

Two Asian countries, which have always been on top in the Henley Passport Index, have retained their place at the top position this time too. These countries are Japan and Singapore.

European countries have found a place in the top 10 on the Henley Passport Index. South Korea, Finland and Sweden are at second place in this list. These three countries claim visa-free travel to 193 countries.

Austria, Denmark, Ireland and Netherlands are in third place. These countries claim visa-free travel to 192 countries.

UK passports become even more powerful

The United Kingdom’s ranking on the Henley Passport Index has climbed two places to fourth place this year from sixth place last year. The UK boasts visa-free travel to 191 countries.

India’s rank in Henley Passport Index

India ranks 80th in the 2024 Henley Passport Index. India’s passport allows visa-free access to 62 countries. With an Indian passport one can travel to places like Thailand, Indonesia, Mauritius, Sri Lanka and Maldives.

Visa-free travel gets better with the new year

With the new year, visa-free travel has improved. Now one can travel to more than 166 places with the passports of the countries topping the list. This figure of reaching countries without visa has almost doubled from 58 in 2006 to 111 in 2024.
