Maruti Suzuki will be launching the 2022 Brezza on June 30th. With the competition increasing in the compact SUV segment, it became important for the manufacturer to upgrade the Brezza considering that the rivals now offer better equipment and also look better.

The manufacturer has finally officially teased the 2022 Brezza and bookings for the car have also been opened. You can book the 2022 Brezza for Rs. 11,000 at any Arena showroom or through the online website.

We have already seen spy photos of the new Maruti Brezza in the last couple of weeks, so most of you have a good idea of what the Brezza will look like. The teaser gives us some much sharper images of the front grill, rear lights and headlights and LED setup at the front.

Mr. Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “Maruti Suzuki Brezza took the Indian market by storm with its launch in 2016. Since then, it has ruled the market and started a new trend of compact SUVs in the country. With over 7.5L units sold in just 6 years, Brezza commands a strong market share in the compact SUV segment in the country. Today we are happy to share that we will be introducing the most-awaited compact SUV in an all-new avatar.

The All-New Brezza, with new-age tech features, commanding driving stance, and muscular and aggressive looks, is ready to disrupt the market. Matching the changing aspirations of young Indians, who want a vehicle that reflects their personalities, All-New Hot and Techy Brezza is a stylishly tech-enabled compact SUV that will surpass the expectations of our evolved customers. We are confident that the All-New Hot and Techy Brezza too will rule Indian roads and win over the hearts of Indian customers.”

Maruti Suzuki will be using the 1.5-litre K12C naturally aspirated petrol engine. It is the same engine that we saw on the Ertiga and XL6. It produces 103 Ps of max power and 137 Nm of peak torque. As standard, you would get a 5-speed manual gearbox. There would also be a new 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox that replaces the old 4-speed torque converter. Moreover, you also get paddle shifters mounted behind the steering wheel to take manual control of the gearbox.

There would also be a mild-hybrid system on offer that would provide torque assist at lower speeds. It would also get an idle engine start/stop system. So, the engine would shut down when the car comes to a halt and would restart again automatically. This helps in decreasing emissions and increasing fuel economy.

The manufacturer will no longer call the compact SUV “Vitara Brezza”. It would simply be called “Brezza”. It is expected that the Vitara nameplate will be used for the new upcoming mid-size SUV which has been codenamed YFG. The YFG – Toyota will call it the HyRyder – is highly ancitipated as it is a big entry into the mid-size segment from the country’s largest manufacturer and its partner Toyota. Expected to be priced very competitively, it has the potential to shake up this segment that currently comprises of SUVs from Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun to the Hyundai Creta.

Coming back to the Brezza, Maruti Suzuki has redesigned the exterior heavily so it looks fresh and more modern. The 2022 Brezza would also come with an electric sunroof, a new touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, redesigned interior and there would be added 6 airbags on offer. The current Brezza only gets dual airbags, ABS with EBD, Hill Hold Assist, rear parking sensors and a rear parking camera.

Once launched, the prices of the Brezza might increase. It would continue to compete against Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite.
