15,100 crore investment agreement signed by this state, more than 47000 people will get employment

New Delhi, PTI . The Tamil Nadu government has signed new investment agreements worth over Rs 15,100 crore with 17 companies, which will provide employment to around 47,150 people in the state. The government was informed about this on Wednesday. The government said that these investment agreements have been for various sectors including commercial vehicles and energy, and nine of them were in the presence of Chief Minister Palaniswami at the secretariat, while eight other companies made agreements through video links.






The government said in an official release that Finland-based Salcomp will invest Rs 1,300 crore for the expansion project, which will provide employment to 10,000 people. Salcomp last year signed an MoU to invest Rs 500 crore in the Global Investors Meet.

A Finland-based company has acquired Nokia’s mobile manufacturing plant, which was shut down. Chennai Power Generation Limited will invest Rs 3,000 crore for a 750 MW natural gas based power plant under a joint venture.



The official release said the investment is to be made in the construction of heavy vehicles, electronics, footwear, energy and medical equipment sectors.
