Under the JJ/WBGSP scholarship of the World Bank and the Government of Japan, Indian students will be provided full fees, flight tickets and accommodation expenses for pursuing Masters studies abroad.
Studying abroad is the dream of millions of Indian students every year. However, high fees, living expenses, and travel costs leave many promising students’ dreams unfulfilled. Now, news of significant relief has emerged for such students. The World Bank and the Japanese government are jointly offering a special scholarship that will enable students to study abroad without worrying about money.
This scholarship is called the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP). This scholarship is specifically designed for students and professionals from developing countries like India. Its goal is to advance young people who, after completing their studies, want to contribute to the development of their countries.
College fees are the biggest expense of studying abroad. However, this scholarship will waive students’ entire Master’s degree tuition fees. Medical insurance is also provided, meaning students won’t have to worry about fees and medical treatment during their studies. This is why this scholarship is gaining widespread attention among students.
Flight tickets and travel allowance will also be available
The unique feature of the scholarship is that it covers not only the cost of education but also travel expenses. Students will receive flight tickets from India to the country and back. Additionally, a separate travel allowance of $600 will be provided. This significantly reduces the significant financial burden of going abroad.
Includes boarding and lodging expenses
The cost of living abroad can often exceed the tuition fees. However, this scholarship will provide monthly financial assistance for accommodation, food, and textbooks. This will allow students to focus fully on their studies without any stress.
Which students will get the opportunity?
There are certain eligibility criteria for this scholarship. Applicants must be citizens of a developing country like India. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and be working full-time in a development-related field at the time of application.
A minimum of three years of work experience within the last six years is also required. Candidates must also have an admission offer from one of the universities participating in this scholarship program.
Will have to work after returning to the country
The most important requirement of this World Bank scholarship is that the candidate must return to their home country after completing their studies. They must also assure that they will use the knowledge and experience they have gained abroad for the development of their country.
This is how the selection will be done
Selection for scholarships will not be based solely on marks. Candidates’ work and thinking will also be given equal weight. Preference will also be given to women and candidates from diverse countries.
Apply soon
The deadline for applying for this scholarship is May 29th. Interested students must first obtain admission to universities that are part of this program. Only then can they apply for the scholarship.
