West Bengal Lockdown Effect: Business body suggested to PM to deal with financial crisis

Kolkata, State Bureau. A national body of traders has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, suggesting measures to deal with the crisis arising due to the lockdown implemented regarding coronovirus, including imposing a cap on the value of e-commerce sales and access to the Aadhaar Aadhar Card Giving is included.

The All India Trade Board Federation said it sought PM’s intervention after meeting its representatives in 17 states. The letter to the Prime Minister said that e-commerce companies should not be allowed to sell products above Rs 5,000.

VK Bansal, national secretary of the Board of Trade, said, “This provision is extremely essential for merchants in electronic goods, mobile phones, computers and laptops, whose business has suffered a steep decline due to the e-commerce segment.” The letter also states that merchants should be given the status of service providers and allowed small and micro business / service providers to apply for Udyog Aadhaar card to avail loans given at a reasonable interest of 6 percent has gone.



The Board of Trade opposed the introduction of a single-point GST system, under which the entire tax amount is collected at the manufacturers’ prevailing rates. Due to the lockdown, a lot of goods in the warehouses have been stocked for months and are losing their original quality, due to the lockdown, said Sushil Poddar, convenor of the Eastern Region of the Board of Trade, Mandal, which sold them at less than the purchase price. The government should return excess of GST to the traders.
