Weather Update: The weather of entire North India including Punjab is about to change. The Meteorological Department has issued a major update in this regard. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain, thunder and lightning in North-East, Central and West India from November 3 to 7. There is a risk of flooding and waterlogging in states like Assam, Meghalaya, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. The IMD has issued a high alert, warning farmers and travelers. According to the official bulletin of IMD, a new system is forming due to the remnants of Cyclone Montha and the pressure in the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. This will lead to a storm in the western parts of Madhya Pradesh from November 3 evening. Similarly, heavy rains are being received in the north-east – Assam and Meghalaya, and will continue till next week.
Five-day weather update
According to the Meteorological Department, a new Western Disturbance on November 4 will significantly change the hill weather system. On November 5, there will be rain and snowfall in the higher reaches of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, which will lead to a sharp drop in temperature. Meanwhile, some parts of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan will remain cloudy till November 6 due to Cyclone Montha and Western Disturbance, which will bring heavy rain and change the weather. On November 4, Delhi, Haryana and Punjab will remain cloudy with light winds. Punjab may receive heavy rain on November 6 and 7.
What is the status of Montha?
The IMD has predicted that the meteorological activities will continue over North-East and South India for the next 48 hours as Cyclone Montha is weakening. During this period, there is a warning of thunder, lightning and light to moderate rain in some parts of Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Assam, Nagaland, Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Vidarbha, Maharashtra and Gujarat. Therefore, people should stay in safe places during this bad weather.

According to the IMD report, heavy rains can wreak havoc in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan. Especially in the Saurashtra-Kutch region of Gujarat, 12-20 cm of rain may occur, which may increase the risk of flooding. The situation in Gujarat is already terrible. The IMD said that winds will blow at a speed of 30-40 kmph, which may uproot trees. There is a risk of landslides in the hilly areas of the northeast, so travelers should be careful. Farmers are also facing difficulties. There may be a delay in the sowing of rabi crops.
Rain and snowfall in North India
A new western disturbance is expected to affect the western Himalayan region from the night of November 3. The International Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rain and snowfall in the western Himalayan region between November 3 and 5, which will affect states like Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Cloudiness, drizzle and a drop in maximum temperature are expected in the plains of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh.
