Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu have announced the launch of the Mohali-Rajpura rail link, which was being demanded for the last 50 years.
Union ministers have also announced the launch of Ferozepur-New Delhi Vande Bharat. This train will run throughout the week except on Wednesdays. From Ferozepur to New Delhi, Vande Bharat will connect the entire Malwa region with Delhi. This Vande Bharat will run from Ferozepur to Bathinda, Dhuri, Patiala, Ambala, New Delhi.
For the Mohali-Rajpura link, the railways require 54 hectares of land which the Punjab government will acquire and give to the Centre. Vaishnav said that other projects related to Punjab also include the redevelopment of Chandigarh Railway Station. He said that the work of changing the look of Chandigarh Railway Station will be completed by 2026-27.
This demand was pending for the last 50 years. This link will connect Chandigarh with the Malwa region – Rajpura, Patiala, Sangrur, among others. According to official sources, the Mohali-Rajpura rail link will finally become a reality, which will enhance regional connectivity by connecting Chandigarh with the Malwa region, which includes Rajpura, Patiala and Sangrur.
The Union Minister also announced the launch of the Ferozepur-New Delhi Vande Bharat train which will be flagged off this week itself. The train will run throughout the week except on Wednesdays. The Vande Bharat from Ferozepur to New Delhi will also connect the entire Malwa with Delhi. It will run from Ferozepur to Bathinda, Dhuri, Patiala, Ambala, New Delhi. The new Vande Bharat train running from Ferozepur to New Delhi will further improve connectivity in the entire region. This new railway line will pass through Bathinda, Dhuri, Patiala and Ambala, connecting a large part of Malwa with the national capital.
Meanwhile, Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar tweeted that “Indian Railways has given two big gifts to Punjab today. The new rail line from Rajpura to Mohali was a decades-old demand which has been accepted by the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This will further improve rail connectivity from the entire Malwa region to Chandigarh. Secondly, a new Vande Bharat train has been announced from Ferozepur to Delhi. I also specially thank Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu for this.”
