There’s good news for the seven lakh electricity consumers of Zone 1 (Ghaziabad city) and Zone 3 (Trans-Hindon) of the Electricity Corporation.
The vertical system of the Electricity Corporation will be implemented in these zones from today, Saturday. Under this, each officer will handle only the duties of his category.
Electricity Corporation officials claim that this system aims to provide better services to consumers. This system will not be implemented in Zone 2 (Loni, Muradnagar, and Modinagar).
Under the vertical system, the electricity department’s functions are divided into different categories, such as technical, commercial, and testing. Each category of work will have separate officers responsible for their respective areas. This will allow consumers to contact a single officer for all their needs, whether it’s a new connection, a billing issue, a meter malfunction, or a line fault. The concerned officer will promptly resolve consumer issues.

In addition, quick response vehicles have also been deployed in the city, which will reach the spot immediately in emergency situations and resolve power-related problems. Akhilesh Singh, Superintending Engineer of the Electricity Urban Distribution Division-II, said that the implementation of this system will save consumers’ time and also ensure accountability of officials.
Faceless will also be a solution
Consumers will only have to visit offices for essential work. Consumer problems will also be resolved faceless. To this end, separate help desks have been set up for all categories of problems. A total of seven help desks have been set up in Trans-Hindon and four in Ghaziabad city.
These are the main points of the vertical arrangement
- Consumer Services: Its main objective is to provide consumers with better and quicker service from a single location.
- New System: The power system is now divided into different sections, such as commercial and technical.
- Responsibility: Different officials will handle the work, from providing electricity connections to supply.
- Corporation’s Claim: The corporation says this will increase transparency and there is no intention of privatization.
- Total consumers in Zone 3 are 4.35 lakh;
- total consumers in Zone 1 are 2.65 lakh.
