Uttar Pradesh Weather News 1 September 2025: The weather has completely changed in UP. It is raining heavily in most of the districts of the state. Lucknow also received good rainfall on Sunday. After which the weather has completely changed.

The weather has suddenly changed in Uttar Pradesh. On Sunday, heavy rains were recorded in many districts including Lucknow, which has given relief to the general public from the scorching heat and humidity. In this sequence, there is a possibility of heavy rain in the state on September 1. There

is a possibility of rain and thundershowers at almost all places in western UP and many places in eastern UP. During this, an alert has been issued for heavy rains at some places in western UP with heavy to very heavy rains at some places. There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains at some places in eastern UP. Meteorologist Atul Kumar said that there is a possibility of more than normal rainfall in the state during September.

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Lakhimpur Kheri, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, Badaun and its surrounding areas on Monday. An alert has been issued for heavy rains in Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Bahraich, Sitapur and Hardoi districts.

Along with this, heavy rains are also expected in Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Unnao, Lucknow, Barabanki, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Hathras, Kasganj, Etah, Mainpuri and its surrounding areas. On the other hand, there is a possibility of thunder and lightning in Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Pratapgarh, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Jaunpur, Gonda, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Hardoi, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Unnao and Lucknow.

Similarly, there is a possibility of thunder and lightning in Barabanki, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Kasganj, Etah, Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, Badaun and its surrounding areas. According to meteorologist Atul Kumar, there is a possibility of more than normal rainfall in most parts of Uttar Pradesh in the month of September. At the same time, rainfall may be less than normal in some areas of northeastern UP.

Due to 4 low pressure areas and 5 active western disturbances (3 of which interacted) formed in the month of August, more than average rainfall was recorded in the state. The long term average of August in the state is 235.5 mm, whereas this time 241.2 mm of rain was recorded, which is 2% more. 636.5 mm of rain was recorded in Bijnor of western UP and 417.9 mm of rain was recorded in Lakhimpur Kheri of eastern UP. So far during the monsoon (01 June–31 August), the state has received 579.2 mm of rainfall, whereas the normal average is 593.1 mm. That is, there has been 2% less rainfall. However, 623.4 mm (+14%) rain was recorded in western UP and 548.4 mm (-12%) in eastern UP, which is in the normal category. Bijnor district has received the highest rainfall of 1097.4 mm (+48%) so far during monsoon-2025.

According to the Monsoon Mission coupled climate model, the conditions of Nino and Indian Ocean Dipole may temporarily go into negative phase in the latter half of the monsoon. Due to this effect, the maximum temperature in western UP will be below normal in September, while in eastern UP it will be around normal. The minimum temperature is likely to be normal or above normal.

September is going to start with heavy rainfall. Due to the activation of western disturbance and monsoon trough, light to moderate rain is expected in most parts of the state and heavy rain at some places till September 2.

An orange alert has been issued for western and central districts on September 1. A yellow alert has been issued in view of the possibility of moderate rain with heavy rain at some places in the capital Lucknow. Lucknow received 307.8 mm of rain in August, which is 52% more than the monthly average (202 mm). So far, 542.7 mm of rainfall has been recorded in Lucknow in Monsoon-2025, which is 5% more than normal (519.3 mm). The Meteorological Department has predicted that Central Uttar Pradesh, including the capital, will receive more than normal rainfall in September.
