University Exams UGC Guidelines 2020: Court asks UGC, can exams be MCQ and Open Choice based

University Exams UGC Guidelines 2020: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday asked the University Grants Commission (UGC) to clarify whether the final year exams of universities are open to multiple choice questions, open choices, assignments and presentations. Can be provided on a basis. Justice Pratibha M Singh asked the UGC to explain the importance of its guidelines issued in April which mention the manner in which a college can be used for final year exams. The High Court fixed July 24 for the next hearing.



The UGC argued during the hearing that the guidelines do not allow internal assessment of final year candidates as this raises questions on the reliability of the system.

The High Court was hearing a petition challenging the University of Delhi’s decision to conduct an open book based examination (open book exam) for final year candidates of undergraduate courses. This type of examination takes a long time.

University of Delhi argued that they are conducting online exams as it is mandatory to conduct final year exams as per UGC guidelines.
