New Rules From November 1; UIDAI Allows THESE Changes Online From Home: If you’ve recently moved to a new city or changed your residence, be sure to update your address on your Aadhaar card. You can do so if you have a valid address proof or an Address Validation Letter.
Under a new online system launching soon, updating important information like name, address, date of birth, or mobile number on your Aadhaar card will be even easier. From November 2025, important Aadhaar information like mobile number, address, name, and date of birth will be available to modify online.
This move aims to improve convenience, reduce paperwork, and promote faster verification through existing government databases like PAN, passport, and ration cards. This means you won’t need to visit an enrollment center for most updates, making the process easier and more user-friendly than ever before.
UIDAI plans to simplify Aadhaar update
UIDAI is now making the Aadhaar update process even easier. User information will be automatically verified against government records like PAN, passport, and ration card, eliminating the need to repeatedly upload documents. Furthermore, utility bills like electricity bills will now be accepted as valid address proof. This change will make the Aadhaar update process faster and more convenient.
A new mobile app is also expected to launch soon, providing a digital Aadhaar with QR code functionality. With this upgrade, physical photocopies will no longer be required, as users will be able to share a secure digital or masked version of their Aadhaar when needed.
The aim of this move is to increase security and reduce the risk of use of fake Aadhaar cards.
UIDAI is providing this service free of cost.
If you only want to update your address, UIDAI is providing this service free of cost through the My Aadhaar portal until June 14, 2026. To complete this process, ensure your Aadhaar is linked to your mobile number, as an OTP is required for verification.
If your mobile number is not linked yet, it is advisable to get it updated as soon as possible so that you can take full advantage of all the upcoming Aadhaar-based digital services.
