Earlier, UGC on 29 April started new academic calendar 2020-21 for current students in higher education institutes of the country on 1 August and new academic calendar 2020-21 for new enrollment UG / PG students 1 September It was announced to do. However, later on the basis of recommendations of the expert committee of the commission, the commission had announced to hold examinations in universities by 30 September. After this, the meeting of the Expert Committee on 21 September 2020 approved academic calendar 2020-21 for newly enrolled UG / PG students, according to which the session will be started from 1 November.

Date of completion of admission process – 31 October 2020
Starting date of classes for first semester fresh batch – 1 November 2020
Break for preparation of examinations – 1 March 2021 to 7 March 2021
Period of conducting examinations – 8 March 2021 to 26 March 2021
Semester Break – 27 March to 4 April 2021
Commencement of EVEN semester classes – 5 April 2021
Break for preparation of examinations – 1 August 2021 to 8 August 2021

Highlights of UGC Guidelines for UG / PG Academic Calendar

Documents related: Merit based admission should be done by 31 October and examination based admission should be done as soon as possible. Provisional admissions can be taken and documents of qualifying exam can be submitted by 31 December.

Classroom-related: All universities can adopt a six-day week pattern for the sessions 2020-21 and 2021-22 to minimize the loss of these batches of students. Universities can reduce the duration of holidays and breaks to reduce the loss of teaching sessions.

Regarding fees: In the event of admission or migration canceled after 30 November 2020, the entire fee will be refunded. After this, the entire fee will have to be refunded by 31 December 2020 after deducting it as processing fee of Rs 1000.

Covid-19 related: The rules of online teaching, conduct of examinations, social distance etc. issued by the Commission on 29 April and 6 July will remain in force.

Universities discounts

At the same time, the UGC stated in the guidelines issued on 22 September 2020 that in view of the current situation and future uncertainties, in a transparent manner by making necessary amendments or improvements in these guidelines in the interest of university students, educational institutions and the entire education system. can be applied. If universities are unable to get admission under the prescribed policies then they can complete the admission process in any other statutory way. Universities can make changes according to the epidemic-related rules of their respective state or local administration.
