An important news has come out for the railway passengers of Madhya Pradesh. Large scale yard remodeling work is going to start at Ujjain station of Ratlam division of Western Railway.

Due to this, non-interlocking work will be done from 11 October to 15 October 2025. Due to this technical work, the operation of many trains will be affected. Some trains will be cancelled, some will be short terminated/short originated, while the route of some will be temporarily changed. Railway administration has advised the passengers to check the status of their train before travelling to avoid inconvenience.

These trains will remain completely cancelled from October 11 to 15.

During this period, major trains such as the Nagda-Bina Express (19341) and Bina-Nagda Express (19342) will be cancelled. Similarly, the Indore-Ujjain Passenger (69213/69214) trains will also be temporarily suspended. This means that regular passenger service between Ujjain and Indore will not be available for these five days. Passengers on these trains will be required to use alternative arrangements.

Trains that are short terminated or partially cancelled

According to the railway, several trains will be partially operated. For example, the Ujjain–Indore Passenger (69211/69212) will now run via Fatehabad Chandravatiganj, and the journey between Ujjain and this station will be cancelled. Similarly, the Chittaurgarh–Ujjain Passenger (69231/69232) will also be partially operated.

Additionally, the Bhopal–Ujjain Passenger (59320) will be short-terminated at Maksi station, and the portion between Ujjain and Maksi will be cancelled. The Dahod–Bhopal Express (19339/19340) will also be limited to Nagda. Therefore, passengers should be aware of this partial cancellation in advance.

Diverted trains – Route will change, stoppages will increase

Due to yard work, several long-distance trains will be diverted via alternate routes. For example, the New Delhi–Dr. Ambedkar Nagar Express (20156) will now run via Nagda–Ratlam–Fatehabad Chandravatiganj–Indore, with a special 2-minute halt at Ratlam station. Similarly, the Indore–Varanasi Express (20416/20414) and Dr. Ambedkar Nagar–Prayagraj Express (14115) have been diverted via Dewas–Maksi–Sant Hirdaram Nagar.

In addition, long-distance trains such as the Udhna–Varanasi Express (20961), the Bikaner–Sainagar Shirdi Special (04715), and the Indore–Patna Express (19313/19321) will also temporarily run on alternate routes. Stations such as Kota, Guna, Ruthiyai, and Bina have been added to these trains’ routes to reduce network pressure.

Why is this non-interlocking work necessary?

According to railway officials, the Ujjain yard remodeling project has been pending for a long time. This project will modernize the track layout, upgrade the signaling system, and make train movement faster and safer. Upon completion, the average speed and operational efficiency of trains will increase. Passengers will benefit from smoother and more punctual travel in the future.

Passengers please note

The railways said all passengers traveling between October 11 and 15 should check their train tickets and schedules on the IRCTC website or through the railway enquiry helpline (139). Passengers on affected trains will receive a full fare refund if they wish to cancel their tickets.
