Heavy rains on Tuesday wreaked havoc in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. Normal life has been disrupted, and rail traffic has also come to a standstill.

The situation is so severe that many railway stations are waterlogged, that the Railways has canceled several trains and rescheduled them. While the UP Hazarduari Express has been canceled from Kolkata, trains like the UP Kolkata-Amritsar have been rescheduled. The Railways is also continuously sending alerts on social media for passengers traveling on this route.

The 13113 UP Hazarduari Express was cancelled from Kolkata , while the 13177 Sealdah Jangipur Express was cancelled from Sealdah. The Sealdah South section is the most affected, and trains on the Circular Railway Lines have been cancelled due to waterlogging on the tracks and in the Chitpur Yard. Major rescheduled trains include the UP KOLKATA-AMRITSAR EXPRESS, UP KOLKATA-JAMMU TAWI EXPRESS, and UP KOLKATA-BALURGHAT EXPRESS.

DRM Howrah is continuously providing updates on the social media platform X, providing passengers with information ranging from train timing changes to cancellations. According to the X post, the timings of the UP Howrah-New Jalpaiguri Express, Howrah-Gaya, and Howrah-Jamalpur Vande Bharat Express have also been changed.

  • 13113 Kolkata–Lalgola Express
  • 13114 Lalgola–Kolkata Express 
  • 13118 Lalgola–Kolkata Express

Rain in Kolkata has not only disrupted Indian Railways train operations but also slowed the speed of the metro. Passengers arriving at stations are facing difficulties crossing waterlogged tracks. Not only railways, but air services have also been affected by the rain in Kolkata.
