Indian Railway News: Rail traffic has come to a standstill due to heavy rains and floods in Jammu-Kashmir and Punjab. 47 trains, including Vande Bharat and Rajdhani, had to be cancelled due to damage to the Kathua-Madhopur track.
Life in Himachal’s Chamba district has been badly affected due to landslides and the crisis on the Mani Mahesh Yatra has deepened.
Continuous heavy rains and floods in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab have worsened the situation. Its biggest impact has been on rail traffic. The railway track between Kathua and Madhopur has been damaged, due to which the movement of trains has been completely disrupted. Northern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay has confirmed that the work of repairing the track is going on, but till then many trains will remain cancelled.
These trains including Vande Bharat and Rajdhani Express are cancelled
A total of 47 trains have been cancelled on Saturday, including New Delhi-Jammu Rajdhani, New Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Vande Bharat Express, Shalimar Malani Express, Dhanbad-Jammu Tawi Express, Kolkata-Jammu Tawi Express, Pune-Jammu Tawi Express, Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Udhampur AC Express, Shri Shakti Express, Uttar Sampark Kranti Express and Malwa Express. This has caused a lot of inconvenience to passengers, especially those who have been trying to travel continuously for the last four days.
Rain wreaked havoc in Himachal Pradesh
Meanwhile, torrential rains have caused havoc in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. Many houses have been damaged due to landslides, some villages have been completely razed to the ground. People are forced to take shelter under tarpaulins or in the homes of relatives. This disaster has also put the Mani Mahesh Yatra in deep trouble. Many pilgrims are reported missing and thousands of people are unable to contact their families due to the shutdown of internet services.
In view of the situation, the administration has speeded up the relief and rescue work, but the problems are increasing due to continuous rain.
