The speed of 24 trains passing through Chhattisgarh has come to a halt for the next five days. Railways have cancelled these trains from 23 to 27 August. Whereas, 2 trains will run on a changed route and 3 will have to return mid-way.
This decision is sure to increase the difficulties of passengers going to Jharkhand, Odisha, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Bengal and Jammu.
Why were the trains cancelled ?
Actually, the work of laying the third and fourth railway lines on the Bilaspur-Jharsuguda section is going on at a war footing. So far, more than 150 km of the 206 km of the fourth line has been completed. Meanwhile, Kirodimal Nagar station of Raigarh is being connected to the fourth line and the Raigarh-Jharsuguda section is also being electrified. This is the reason why the railways decided to stop operations during this time keeping in mind the safety of passengers.
Which trains will run on diverted routes ?
- 23 August: Howrah-Pune Duronto Express will pass through Jharsuguda, Titlagarh, Lakholi and Raipur.
- 25 August: Pune-Howrah Duronto Express will pass through Raipur, Lakholi, Titlagarh and Jharsuguda.
These trains will stop halfway
- Gondia-Jharsuguda Passenger (from 24 to 27 August) will not run on Bilaspur-Jharsuguda section.
- Gondwana Express (Nizamuddin-Raigarh) will terminate at Bilaspur on 23, 25 and 26 August.
- Gondwana running from Raigarh on 25, 27 and 28 August will depart from Bilaspur itself.
Passengers will face problems , but will get relief in future.
Right now passengers will definitely face problems in travelling long distances, but once the work is completed, both the speed and convenience of trains on this route will increase. Railways claim that the fourth line and electrification will reduce the congestion of goods trains and passenger trains and the punctuality of trains will improve.
