Field Report: North India Rail Shutdown 🚂
The cold front is here. It’s hit hard. The dense fog and poor visibility slammed North India. This happened. And then the Indian Railways followed by cancelling dozens of trains. We’re talking about long-distance lifelines—services going in and out of the capital and the East—that are either completely stopped or running on severely limited schedules.
Attention, passengers: If you plan to travel between now and early March, you need the definitive list. Train operations became impossible. The visibility problem is real. The Railways is prioritizing passenger safety over punctuality. That’s why they are pulling the plug. It’s a safety-first winter protocol, or nothing.
The Breakdown: Why the Railways Hit the Brakes
The East Central Railway (ECR) and Northern Railway (NR) had to drop the hammer. It’s a three-month window of disruption, running from December 1, 2025, right through to early March 2026.
The Problem: Dense fog reduces visibility to near zero. A loco pilot cannot run the train at speed.
The Consequence: Reduced speed means cascading, massive delays across the entire network. To decongest the system and maintain safety, the Railways is simply pulling the plug on the most affected, long-route trains.

The Reduced-Frequency List (The Daily Struggle)
This is the kicker: If your train isn’t fully cancelled, it might only run a few days a week. It forces passengers to shift their entire travel plan.
Akal Takht Express (12317/12318): Cancelled on specific weekdays throughout the winter.
Durgiyaana Express (12357/12358): Cancelled on designated weekdays for three months.
Gwalior–Barauni Express (11123/11124): This will not run on Mondays and Thursdays (up) or Tuesdays and Fridays (down).
Bagh Express (13019/13020): Cancelled on Sundays and Tuesdays.
This is the messy, ongoing reality of winter rail travel. You must check your specific date now.
