Muzaffarpur (Bihar): A major fire broke out at a private hospital in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district early Thursday morning, killing at least three people. Authorities have confirmed the deaths.

The incident occurred in the intensive care unit of Prasad Hospital, located in the Brahmapura police station area, where several patients were admitted at the time. Upon receiving the information, administration and rescue teams arrived at the scene and began rescue operations.

The District Magistrate stated that approximately 13 to 15 patients were being treated in the ICU at the time of the accident. After the fire, the patients’ families immediately took them to other hospitals. The administration is now trying to contact all the patients and their families.

According to officials, the fire has been completely extinguished. An investigation is underway and the necessary legal procedures have been initiated.

Hospital management said initial investigations indicate a short circuit was the cause of the fire. Smoke quickly filled the ICU, making it difficult to safely evacuate patients.

The hospital administration has stated that it is fully cooperating with the investigating agencies and the district administration. Officials say that information on some patients and those affected is still being gathered. Therefore, the possibility of the death toll rising cannot be ruled out.
