Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana: The Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana is a safe and tax-free savings scheme for daughters. This account offers an interest rate of 8.2%. Although an account is opened for every daughter, there are rules regarding the number of daughters who can have accounts in a single family.

If you have a daughter and want to provide financial security for her, the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) is the best option for you. This government scheme, specifically designed for daughters, offers both guaranteed interest and tax benefits. But the biggest question parents often ask is: how many SSY accounts can be opened in a family? What are the rules for twins or triplets? Let’s understand in simple terms…

Why should one open a Sukanya Samriddhi Account?

This is the most secure scheme for daughters’ future. SSY is not just a savings scheme but also a long-term security plan for daughters. This scheme is especially helpful for marriage, education, and emergencies. If you have twins or triplets, there’s no need to worry. The government has kept the rules flexible so that every daughter can benefit from this scheme.

How much interest is earned under Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana?

How many SSY accounts can be opened in a family?

According to the rules, a Sukanya account can be opened in the name of up to two daughters in a family. However, there are some notable exceptions.

1. Twins or triplet daughters for the first time

If twins or triplets are born in the first birth, SSY accounts can be opened for all daughters. This means you can open two or three accounts at once.

2. Twins or triplet daughters the second time around

If there was one daughter the first time and twins or triplets the second time, then accounts can be opened for all.

3. Daughters born later

If the first birth was twins, a new account cannot be opened for future daughters. This means the rule applies only to two daughters, but in the case of twins and triplets, everyone is covered.
