Schools Closed: The festive season has begun across the country. These days, the country is bathed in the colors of Navratri. Giving information, Bathinda Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman said that special arrangements have been made from September 27 to 29 in view of the annual religious fair to be held on September 28 at village Maisarkhana.
Meanwhile, a government holiday has been declared in the Government Elementary School, Government Senior Secondary School and Mata Maisarkhana College of Education (for Girls) of village Maisarkhana. This decision has been taken on the recommendation of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate Maur.
He said that every year lakhs of devotees arrive to participate in this religious fair. Due to the large number of devotees, the town becomes crowded. Therefore, the administration has declared a holiday to maintain peace and tranquility.
Apart from this, in exercise of his powers as District Magistrate, Rajesh Dhiman has issued orders under Section 54 of the Punjab Excise Act, 1914. Accordingly, all country and English liquor shops within the limits of Maisarkhana village will remain completely closed from September 27 to 29. Nor will any person be allowed to stock or sell liquor.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the use of alcohol or drugs during the fair can disrupt the religious atmosphere and hurt the sentiments of the people. This poses a risk of disturbing peace and harmony. Therefore, it has been considered necessary to ban the sale of alcohol during the fair.
