School Closed: Due to heavy rains, schools and colleges have had to be closed in many parts of the country. Situations like waterlogging, landslides and floods have affected life. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in many areas and advised to remain alert.

School Closed: Torrential monsoon rains in many parts of the country have completely affected life. Schools and colleges have been temporarily closed due to heavy waterlogging, landslides and traffic disruptions in many areas. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red and orange alerts and advised to remain alert for the next 48 hours.

Heavy rain in Delhi-NCR, schools closed

Due to continuous rain in Delhi, Noida and Gurugram, waterlogging has occurred at many places. The speed of vehicles on the roads has come to a halt. The Noida administration has ordered the closure of all schools from class 1 to 8. The Meteorological Department has warned that the rain will continue.

Threat of landslides increased in Uttarakhand-Himachal

The situation is even more serious in the Himalayan states. Schools and colleges have been closed due to heavy rains and landslides in Dehradun, Chamoli, Nainital and Haridwar of Uttarakhand, and Kangra, Mandi, Sirmaur and Solan districts of Himachal Pradesh. A rapid increase in the water level of rivers has been recorded.

Life disrupted in Mumbai and Maharashtra

Rail services have been disrupted due to heavy rains in Mumbai, Pune, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Nagpur. Waterlogging and traffic jams persist on the roads. Orders have been issued to keep all educational institutions closed in Nagpur.

Effect of rain in South and East India too

Red alert has been issued in Malappuram, Kannur and Kasaragod of Kerala, and Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kodagu, Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru of Karnataka. Schools and colleges have been closed as a precaution in these districts.

Alert in eastern and central India too

There is a possibility of flood in 19 districts of Chhattisgarh, while heavy rain warning has been issued in Saharanpur, Shamli and Baraut of Uttar Pradesh.
