Floods have wreaked havoc in Punjab. Due to which the government had to decide to declare holidays in the schools of the state. Meanwhile, a big update has come out regarding the holidays declared in the schools.
Now Jalandhar District Magistrate Dr. Himanshu Agarwal has announced holidays on September 11 and 12 in 9 government schools of the district. These are the schools which have been damaged or where relief camps have been set up.
According to the order issued by the District Magistrate, the schools in which two-day holiday has been declared include Government Middle School, Fateh Jalal, Government Middle School, Basti Peer Dad, Government High School, Lidhra, Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Basti Sheikh, Government High School, Mundh, Government High School, Boparai Kalan, Government Primary School, Jalalpur Kalan, Lohian Khas, Government Primary School, Peer Dad, West-2 and Government Primary School, Muddh, Nakodar-2.
It is worth mentioning that Punjab’s Revenue Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian informed that in the last 24 hours, 88 more villages, 374 people and 55 hectares of cultivable land have been affected in the state due to floods. He said that thus far the total number of affected villages in 22 districts of the state has reached 2185 and the number of affected people has reached 3,88,466.
The Cabinet Minister said that one more person has lost his life in Ferozepur in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll in 15 districts to 53. He said that three people are still missing in Pathankot.
Punjab Revenue Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian further informed that 91 more people have been evacuated from the flood-affected areas during the same period, taking the number of people rescued so far to 23,297. Currently, 115 relief camps are operating across the state, in which 4533 people are sheltering.
