Schengen Visa Rule Change: Planning to visit Switzerland then first know the rules, this is a big change in Schengen visa

Switzerland Schengen Visa: If you are preparing to go to Switzerland, then you must know the new visa rules. According to VFS Global, now only the documents given in the official checklist can be submitted. Additional documents or clarifications will not be accepted.

Switzerland Schengen Visa: If you are planning to visit Switzerland, the most beautiful country in Europe, then before that you should know all the information about the visa well. Recently there have been some changes in the visa rules here. The visa partner of the Swiss Embassy has recently implemented some new rules. VFS Global, which handles the Schengen VG process for the Swiss Embassy in India, has issued a new directive.

Under this new directive, now applicants will have to submit only those documents which are mentioned in the official checklist. That is, appeals based on any additional documents, clarifications or additional material will not be accepted.

According to the alert related to Schengen visa, “All applicants are informed that only the documents given in the official checklist of the same visa category will be submitted at the Visa Application Center (VAC).” According to the current checklist of VFS Global 2025, all applicants for Schengen visa (tourist category) will have to submit only the documents mentioned in the official guidelines as a complete set.

Let us know which documents have to be submitted.

  1. A valid passport issued in the last 10 years, which is valid for at least 3 months after the date of return and has at least two blank pages.
  2. Along with this, there should be a recent passport size photo, which has a white background and which is not more than 6 months old. Only paste this photo, do not staple or pin it.
  3. You have to submit a completed and signed application form for visa application. For minors, this form must be signed by their legal guardians.
  4. An ID card on company letterhead from your employer, signed and stamped by the HR department. It should contain your position, date of travel, purpose of travel and a no-objection statement from the company.
  5. Apart from this, travel insurance with a minimum coverage of ₹30,36,660 (Euro 30,000) is required, which is valid in Schengen countries and covers emergency medical during the entire journey time.
  6. Along with this, confirmed return flight tickets with the names of the passengers and travel plans within the Schengen countries, if any, must also be submitted. Hotel bookings, tour confirmations or payment receipts must also be submitted.
  7. Documents can be submitted together in a family application. Only the head of the family must submit economic documents, insurance and bookings with all names.
  8. For students (above 16 years), student ID and school or university ID card is required.
  9. For minors (below 18 years), if they are not traveling with both parents, notarized consent of the non-traveling parent is required. If traveling alone, consent of both parents and a copy of their identity documents will have to be given.
  10. For visa, financial proof has to be submitted in A4 size with bank stamp and signature. This includes salary slips of last 3 months, bank statement and ITR-V of last 2 years for employed people. Businessmen will have to submit business registration, 3 months bank statement and ITR-V. On the other hand, retired people will have to submit 3 months pension statement and other income proofs, such as rent receipts.
