SBI Alert: If you use the State Bank of India (SBI) UPI service, you may face some problems on September 21, 2025. SBI stated in its tweet that the UPI service will be down for 45 minutes on September 22.
If you are a customer of the country’s largest public sector bank, State Bank of India (SBI), and conduct transactions through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), then this news is important for you. The bank has announced on its official exchange account that UPI services will be temporarily suspended for a total of 45 minutes, from 12:15 am to 1:00 am on September 21, 2025.
The bank stated that customers may experience difficulties making regular UPI payments during this time. However, the bank stated that UPI Lite services will remain operational, allowing small transactions to continue without interruption. SBI apologized to customers for the inconvenience and assured them that this shutdown is only temporary.
Due to scheduled maintenance activity, SBI UPI services will be temporarily unavailable from 00:15 hrs to 01:00 hrs on 21.09.2025 (IST).
Customers may continue to use UPI Lite Services for uninterrupted service.

What is UPI Lite?
It’s worth noting that UPI Lite is a payment solution. The lite version of UPI is called UPI Lite. While UPI payments require a 6- or 4-digit UPI PIN, UPI Lite allows money transfers without a PIN.
