Salary Hike: The decision to revise the monthly salary has come before Diwali and will be applicable from October 1. The government had earlier increased the minimum wage in May.


Delhi Government: Ahead of Diwali, the Aam Aadmi Party government of Delhi has decided to increase the minimum wages for unskilled workers, skilled workers and semi-skilled workers. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodio gave this information on Wednesday. Manish Sisodia said, the increase in minimum wage will give relief to the employees during inflation. The decision to revise the monthly salary has come before Diwali and will be applicable from October 1. The government had earlier increased the minimum wage in May.

What did Deputy CM Manish Sisodia say?

The increase in minimum wages will provide relief to the working class suffering from the adverse effects of inflation. Manish Sisodia said and claimed that the Delhi government pays the highest minimum wages to laborers in the country. The Deputy CM further said, this step will benefit unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled and other workers in all scheduled employment categories of the Delhi government. He said that this would also benefit clerical and supervisory jobs.

The minimum wage for clerical and supervisory jobs has also been increased. The Deputy Chief Minister said that people working on minimum wages in the unorganized sector should also get the benefit of dearness allowance, which is usually given to state and central government employees.

Manish Sisodia said, Delhi government is revising dearness allowance every six months to give relief from dearness to all the employees. Food inflation rose to 8.60% in September 2022 as compared to 7.62% in August.
