To promote rent agreement registration in Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi government has taken a major decision. Under this, up to 90 percent discount has been granted on tenancy and lease agreements. Now, tenancy agreements up to 10 years will receive a 90 percent discount. The cabinet has taken this step to prevent 11-month tenancy agreements from being signed on stamp papers ranging from ₹10 to ₹100.
However, this exemption will not apply to toll and lease agreements. Furthermore, the Yogi cabinet made another significant decision at its meeting on Friday. This means that applying for old age pensions in the state will no longer be required. This amount will now be directly credited to the accounts of those over the age of 60. However, the amount will only be transferred to those who authorize it.
The cabinet also approved the transfer of 5.07 hectares of Fisheries Department land in Baghpat district—excluding the disputed 0.53 hectares—to the Medical Education Department for the establishment of a medical college under a public-private partnership model. The meeting also amended the Uttar Pradesh Accountant Service Rules to allow 2 percent of chainmen (assistant accountants) to be promoted to the rank of accountant.
