E-commerce companies like Amazon, Flipkart have also started booking non-essential goods after the instructions were issued in this regard by Delhi government and several state governments on Monday. The fourth phase of lockdown across the country has been implemented from 18 May. The government has also allowed e-commerce companies to supply non-essential goods in the Red Zone.

E-commerce companies like Amazon, Flipkart have also started booking non-essential goods after the instructions were issued in this regard by Delhi government and several state governments on Monday. Companies claim that the supply of these goods is being done keeping in mind the safety measures and they are insisting on contactless delivery.

Significantly, the fourth phase of lockdown has been implemented across the country from May 18. The government has also allowed e-commerce companies to supply non-essential goods in the Red Zone.

The central government has now left the decision to set red, orange, green zone during lockdown 4. Also buffer and containment zones have been created. In the instructions of the Ministry of Home Affairs, it has been clearly said that apart from the restrictions which can be carried on, all other businesses or activities can be run.

E-commerce gets discounts

This time the e-commerce service has not been placed in the ban list and these will be banned only in the Containment Zone. In the Containment Zone, only essential goods can be supplied as before.



Earlier in lockdown 3, e-commerce companies were not allowed to supply non-essential goods. They were only allowed to sell essential goods.

In the fourth phase of the lockdown extended till May 31, the Ministry of Home Affairs has given permission to open all activities except those specifically prohibited. At the same time, only compulsory services have been allowed in the Containment Zone.
